Fujifilm and ePac announce global digital printing partnership, starting with Phoenix installation

Members of the Fujifilm and ePac teams announce their new partnership at Pack Expo 2026

Fujifilm announced a global strategic partnership with ePac Flexible Packaging on 19 October 2026 to introduce its J Press FP790 water-based digital inkjet technology across ePac’s international production network. The agreement will begin with installation of a J Press FP790 at ePac’s new facility in Phoenix, Arizona. The companies plan to extend deployment to other locations in ePac’s global network in subsequent phases, although no schedule or number of additional presses was disclosed.

The partnership is intended to expand ePac’s capacity for larger flexible packaging print runs while maintaining its existing short-run, on-demand production model. Fujifilm said the arrangement would support packaging production for both emerging and established brands.

The J Press FP790 is designed for high-volume flexible packaging applications. According to Fujifilm, the press provides 1200 × 1200 dpi resolution, reproduces more than 90% of the Pantone colour gamut and uses water-based inks suitable for food packaging applications. The company also states that the equipment supports recyclable material structures.

Parag Patel, President of Shared Services at ePac Flexible Packaging, said: “By continuing to integrate leading-edge assets into our fleet, we are significantly increasing our capacity and capability to handle larger run lengths efficiently.”

Osamu Nakashima, Corporate Vice President of Fujifilm Business Innovation Corporation, said: “We’ve put huge emphasis on digital packaging in the latest developments to our portfolio, and our flagship J Press FP790 is engineered specifically to transform flexible packaging manufacturing.”
